About me
I am a classically trained cellist and dedicated music educator with over 15 years of experience teaching cello to students of all ages. My teaching emphasizes strong technical foundations, expressive musicality, and individualized guidance, including preparation for The Royal Conservatory of Music Exam (RCM) and ensemble coaching.
My musical journey began at age seven, and I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Musicology with a focus on Cello Performance from East China Normal University in Shanghai, China. I have performed with orchestras since 2002, starting as principal cellist of the Xiamen Youth Philharmonia Orchestra. After moving to Canada, I continued performing with ensembles such as Orchestra Toronto, the Kindred Spirits Orchestra, and the Chinese Artists Society of Toronto.
In addition to my performance work, I specialize in early childhood music education. I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from George Brown College and a certificate in Orff Pedagogy from The Royal Conservatory of Music. As a Registered Early Childhood Educator since 2016, I have led more than 800 preschool music classes, creating joyful, developmentally informed programs that blend music theory, movement, singing, body percussion, and instrument play.
I am excited to bring my passion and creative energy to Yangyang Music Studio, where I look forward to inspiring learners of all ages and nurturing their lifelong love of music.
